FROM THE WISCONSIN YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION

April 15, 2020

We are optimistically looking toward May 1 as the date we can provide specifics on implementation of WYSA’s contingency plan. The next two weeks are our runway to gather information, and finalize strategies for return to play in Wisconsin. This of course is dependent on directives from the Centers for Disease Control, Local and National Government, but May 1 is our goal for this announcement. Until then, here are the most current updates on programs and events:

  • WYSA Administered Leagues - WYSA administered leagues including State League, WDA, SECL, SWCL and Youth Academies are suspended until further notice. We are still working toward a possible start date of June 1 and season end of July 12, where new league schedules would be generated.
  • State & Presidents Cup - We intend to offer State Cup and Presidents Cup in a modified format on TBD dates.
  • Tryout Dates - Tryout and universal offer dates remain under review.
  • US Youth Soccer - US Youth Soccer has pushed back the Regional and National return to activity date to May 15.
  • U.S. Soccer - All Coaching Education courses are postponed and will begin no earlier than June 1. Additionally, all Referee events have been postponed or canceled through May 30. This includes State and National education in both programs. In the interim, we strongly encourage participation in online Coaching Education and online Referee Education available through U.S. Soccer.
  • Resources - The COVID-19 resources pages on the WYSA website are updated regularly.
